Following his exhibition at Galerie Anatome (see post here), Wim Crouwel has been invited by French Modern Art Museum, Centre Georges Pompidou, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the museum. During all this year, many important creator in all fields were and will be invited to perform and talk about their work for the museum. Each artist will represent one specific year since the opening of the museum in 1967. 1990 was the year for Wim Crouwel. He won the prestigious price of the Stankowski Foundation. At that time he was designer and director of the Boymans-van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam.

During more than 1h30 Wim Crouwel talked about his entire work since he began his art school to his last work for Mono exhibition. Poster, brochure, visual design for museum… He presents all his work with a great touch of humor.

For those who are interested, he will talk at D&AD Global Awards Ceremony in London next Thursday 24 May 2007.

Last information about Wim Crouwel. His new monography designed by Experimental Jetset previously announced a release this month, will finally be out next month, still by Fsept publishing.

André Baldinger biography :
André Baldinger is a visual designer and Swiss typographer. After studies with Zürich, André Baldinger arrives in 1992 to Paris where it studies during two years with the “Atelier National de Création Typographique” (ANCT). In 1995, it start its own office. Its projects are in the cultural field, but also in the institutions and industriesand others. Creator of type, he designed Newut and the B-Dowry, both distributed under his ambplus.com label. He taught during several years with the ECAL in Lausanne, the HKB with Bern and the ANRT in Nancy. In Zurich it shares the teaching of the creation of type to hgk Z with Hans Jürg Hunziker. It teaches since October’ 06 the typography and the visual communication with the ENSAD in Paris. Member of International Graphic Alliance.

In honor of the first typeface acquired for MoMA’s collection, the installation presents posters, signage, and other graphic material demonstrating the variety of uses and enduring beauty of this design classic. As a special feature in the exhibition, an excerpt of Gary Hustwit’s documentary Helvetica reveals the typeface as we experience it in an everyday context.
