An easy-to-understand icon system organizes hundreds of fonts, making searching and cross-referencing easy. And, an additional feature, color photos offer real-world examples of many of the fonts in action, showing how they translate from screen to final layout. Accessible and thorough, 1000 Fonts is an indispensable tool for novice and expert designers alike.

Ah, this makes me nostalgic for the type books when one ordered galleys of type from the typositor. And Phil’s Photo-the huge encyclopedia of headline type they had: how one would order type and it would come in strips right out of the compositor. So, type books physical are having a comeback? I doubt this will sell well–the online options are too ubiquitous, but I’d be happy to be surprised.
